IMHO it would be a VERY good idea : as a complete newbie, everything I learned about analog electronics in musical apps (before subscribing to synth-DIY) was in building the Formant 20 years ago... You may have to change a few things though, as some parts are difficult to obtain these days (ua726, CA3084...). JB
