Get some piezo transducers. Raido Shack will have them for a dollar or two
each. You can get the ones in the black plastic housings (which are a
little more robust), or the raw disks (yellow metal disk with a pearlescent
circle on one side). They're the sorts of elements you'd find if you
dismantled an old Tama trigger pad...
