[sdiy] Tip/ring/sleeve standards?

   send/receive from outboard fx unit, is there a standard for this?

On mixers, tip is the output and ring is the input.

This way you can:
  use a TRS plug for an effects loop, or
  use a TS plug for an interrupting direct out, or
  use a TS plug inserted half way for a non-interrupting direct out

Clever, eh?
