Hi Harry,
No, not a tin ear. The MonoPoly uses a SSM 2044 VCF
IC, not a 2040. I have a Cat SRM with a 2040, and it's
a different beast altogether. I remember reading in
Electronic Musician years ago, that the 2044 was an
attempt to mimic the Moog ladder (still protected by
patent at the time) by using current mirrors. Didn't
quite live up to its inspiration, IMO, but a nice
filter nonetheless.
Also, glad to see Dave clarifying his response as
good natured humor. I was reasonably sure it was,
especially after the "vacuum tube BBD" comment...
