Hi All...
I have tracked down what was causing the wild fluctuations in pitch
on my micromoog - bad solder joints due to board stresses...
when i got it on the bench i noticed that when the board was flexed
the problem went away and returned when a knob was touched or the
board flexed again...
There seems to be a bit of a problem with the design of the
micro/multimoog (as far as I can see), in that the pots are not
secured at the front panel - only by solder on the board.
This works fine for a while, or if the knobs are treated with much
care... but my micromoog (pawn shop special) has been very poorly
treated and the pot solder joints were causing the wild fluctuations
in pitch...
reheating/cleaning up these joints fixed my problem - a more
permanent solution would be to replace the pots with ones that are
secured on the front panel in the normal way and connected to the
board with hookup wire (space permitting)
Might be useful info to someone one day...
Haima
