Personally, speaking only for myself, I'd agree it is a touch subject,
but that it is possible indeed to mention what one does
"professionally". If you mention it as being just a shameless plug,
etc. once in a while, no problem. If you go an interfer with
discussion on the list claiming it is uninteresting to go into the
details of this and that, since you allready have a product for it,
you have by far passed that line (BTW, I have seen that too here).

Another topic which I feel strongly against is when people in one end
brag about thier stuff but in the other is unwilling/unable to
discussed how it is acheived. Then that person also passed the line in
my book. We have this list in order to share information between
persons who want to learn more about how to build things for onces own
pleasure. This is a community, and here we share. Those that are doing
this kind of stuff AND participate here have a very tougth balance to
do, and honestly, very few people are able to maintain that balance.

Mixing commercial interest with the more idealistic views is a known
community killer. It has happend before. Many doesn't understand what
happends to them as they cross the dotted line into commercial
buissness. As soon as you, or somebody you are connected to, is
starting to make money out of what you came up with or just put
together from what you found, then you have crossed the line. You can
no longer easilly separate the issues relating to the idealistic
views, those which of your commercial interest and those of your own
persona. It is no longer simple.

Luckilly I do my proffesional work in a not directly related
buissness, but I happend to have use for some of my Synth-DIY
knowledge in a kind of remote way.

So, whatever you do, please be carefull and don't hide what you are
really after. It is OK to say "But I am *really* proud of this and
that product, just go and check it out at http://...." kind of things
once in a while.

Cheers,
Magnus
