Have you adjusted the resonance pot? These things won't make a sound until
they are set up correctly. The resonance pot needs to be adjusted until the
thing self-oscillates, then backed off again. Also, if you are driving this
from your own pulse source, add a 110k resistor from the input side of the
capacitor to ground to stop it charging and staying charged, thys blocking
further pulses. This is a very common circuit, and I have used it
successfully on many occasions. The V8 simulator on my web page uses a pair
of them.
