[sdiy] Toroidal Transformer considerations

You will experience a problem only if the mounting method makes a complete
turn. When I was a young pup I made a voltage inverter using a toroidal
transformer. I bolted the transformer to the side wall of the aluminum box.
I used an aluminum bracket and three bolts, one through the center and two
through the ends. When I powered up for the first time the oscillator was
working perfectly but after a short while the center bolt started to turn
color as heated up. The power of stupidity and a lot of current. The problem
was fixed by insulating the bolt in one place. Any conductors, magnetic or
electric are not much influence even when directly adjacent.
