D'oh! I just compared the pinouts more carefully and there is one slight
difference.

It appears that the Reset/ pin on the AVR8515 is active low while the 8051
Reset is active high. Should be easy enough to hack a new reset signal into
an existing 8051 board, but its a significant difference none the less.
