A discussion from Electronotes (but where?) seemed to indicate that
the diode and 3080 were about equal in harmonic distortion... but
the distortion was in different locations... the diode had a flatter top
with no point from the triangle...and the 3080 was closer everywhere
else BUT the point....

So its dealers choice... I like the 3080 a little better.
