[sdiy] Front panels

Has anyone looked in to the viability of using plastic laminate (usually ABS I think) for front panels. Standard is black with white lettering. Much easier to drill than aluminium and most pcb manufacturers also can handle ABS laminates.

Also Elektor used to make a number of products with a pcb based front panel - the few I had looked pretty good. Benefit of pcb over plastic is that you could leave the copper on the back and use it as a screen.
