You might try cloning the Rol at nd D-beam (Marjan's site) or use
an ultrasonic distance measuring module (once made by Polaroid but
now widely available... might even hack one of those ultrasonic measuring
tapes...)
Or try the theremin approach. I have the Big Briar Etherwave... with the now
legendary (in my own mind) PV-1 pitch to voltage converter. Its very cool for
live playing... OTOH If I had hands (unlike the slime mold I am...) I'd go for
the
knobs. They are easier, cheaper, and less physically stressful (simon says hands
in
mid-air...hold...wave...hold....wave... You will look and feel like a
flightless bird!)
Let me know how the 4093 works. I'd even like a second theremin. If you use
multiples they need to be tuned so they do not interfere...
How about a lamp/photocell ???
