[sdiy] bypass switching

I have faced this same search before when I wanted a heavy duty foot switch,
BUT needed SPDT. I have used the metal ones, and they are expensive and
typically only DPDT or SPST. And, after a while they get noisy and can be
hard to push if your foot pressure is off center somewhat to the switch
travel.
I use a foot switch like this for Leslie motor speed switching. A few years
ago, I found a great switch for this. It is made by Marduardt part # 1843.
I found them at All Electronics (1-800-826-5432) their part number PB-18.
The price is $0.85 for 1, $7.50 for 10 and $65 per-hundred. I was somewhat
skeptical when I bought them because they were plastic. So, as I have
learned from surplus catalogs, buy all you think you will need as they may
not have them next week. So, I ordered up a supply of 10 while I only
needed 2, so I would have plenty of replacements.
Well, I still have 8 in my parts bag because I have been unable to wear the
first two out. And, All Electronics still sells them. I highly recommend
this switch for push-on, push-off SPDT applications. I have been much more
pleased with the overall performance than any of the all metal ones I have
used.
They mount in a round hole (handy) and come with a dress and back up nut.

the local radio shack carries them. Not sure
how mkuch they are, but certainly less than 20 usd.
Of course, they'll probably be of radioshack quality.
