Ok, guess you win in the 'mine is bigger than yours' department.
But you know, its not the size that counts ;)
Don't forget to put up a few pictures of the necessary accessories too.
- Lubricant (fill-in your faf bad pun)
- Centerpoint
- (conical) Sheet drill
- Center-drill
- Vice/clamp (to keep your work from wandering off)
IMHO For good front panels a drillstand is a must.
I got a more modest table model,
these go for under $100 here in the Netherlands.
Some tips for those interested in using/getting a drill stand:
We are actually talking 'drill-column (or 'table-drill' for smaller models)
here, as a drill stand is only a guiding device for a hand-held-drill.
Drill columns have their own motor & spindle and more importantly,
can run and deliver power at much SLOWER speed than hand-held-drills do.
The sheet & center drills mentioned earlier reduce muching and
are essential to get round holes in thin material.
But as these drills have a higher friction than normal drills,
we need the spindle to run at fairly low speeds.
Depending on the hole size; 400 to 1000 rpm,
for a 10mm (0.39 inch) 600 rpm is about right.
Cheers,
Theo
