[sdiy] Rotary Encoders

Anyone know of a good reliable source of rotary encoders?
Obviously I'd like someone that had the mindset of Cinch-Jones and is still
making the same thing in 50 years...

I'm trying to narrow down my DIY projects to 2. The tube BBD which I figure
I'll have finished around 2015, and my pet-peeve project which is to build
a step sequencer that while at the heart will have a microcontroller, you wont
see it. I'm so sick of the mouse/keyboard interface its not even funny.
I've thought about touchscreens but ones that will take two inputs at the
same time are *VERY* expensive and they all seem to be lo-rez at the upper
end of the size availability. I just want a sequencer that feels totally
natural to use, it needs to feel like an instrument not a computer...
