OK, I'm not Harry (good thing!) but here goes anyways... If you want to regulate
the magnetic flux from a coil, you must regulate the current, not the voltage,
applied to that coil. This ensures that temperature change will not affect flux.
At work we have linear accelerators with beam steering coils precision driven
from current regulated power supplies, typical is 4 - 8 volts at 200 amps. :-0
This is one example, but I'm sure there are many others.
