[sdiy] Strange diode in Neve mic pre

Hi list

I would really like to build this Neve 1081 mic pre, but need to find 
out about the AA144 diode. See circuit :

I did a search on Google & found out it was a germanium diode. The 
only ge diodes I have found locally are OA 91's. Could I use one of 
these? Or is it a Zener to limit the b-c voltage?
