You should try to solder them without melting the plastic :) Unlike DCB,
there is northing special about the way the cables are wired, except that
pin #2 (the one in the middle) is ground, so you might want to tie that to
the shield at one end (although I don't think that's the case with mass
manufactured DIN cables, like the ones at RS). Otherwise, pin 1 goes to
pin 1, pin 2 goes to pin 2, etc.
