[sdiy] cleaning pots, sliders, and dishes, and forks...

Its probably heresy to use the "R" word, but I bought a spray can of "Tuner
cleaner" at Radio Shack. I used it to clean up scratchy pots on my TB303,
TR808 and TR909.

Some people say this stuff is bad news, but it worked fine for me and I have
never had any problems with it (6 months hence). I think its some sort of
mixture of alcohol and a mineral oil that you spray onto a pot and work it
in by moving the pot back and forth. The alcohol makes the oil thin so it
can seep into the pot housing and then it evaporates and leaves the oil
behind.

The directions on the can say to just pull off the knob caps and spay it
onto the top of the pot, but that was far too messy for my liking. Instead,
I disassembled the gear in question, masked the circuit board in a layer of
paper towel and poked the pot shafts through. That way you can carefully
apply it to each pot without getting oil all over everything.

Slight warning: Be careful not to use too much(dont saturate) and use
ventilation.
