I think that we, here, are such a global community, spread across this
beautiful globe, that country boundaries are insignificant. Many come
here to learn, and I think we learn not just how to make a VCO or
somesuch, but about the world as well. I've no idea how many countries
are represented by list members (most, I would imagine), but when you
have English, American, French, German, Swedish, Italian, Czechoslovakian,
Spanish, ... etc, all helping each other, all working towards a common
goal -- the building and enjoyment of synths -- we all get something else
out of too: a global awareness that many folks just don't get,
irrespective of which country they're in.
Sadly, we the lucky ones are in a minority. We can see the madness for
what it truly is, but no amount of carpet schematic dropping, no volume
setting loud enough, no bass cabinet large enough, will get through to the
ignorant masses. Maybe we need a "Disaster Area"*-syle concert to shake
the world up and sort out this mess (but not too loud, we wouldn't want
the Sun to go nova on us).
<Sore point: my girlfriend is going to Buffalo, New York for a football
match. Am I worried? Yes>
"Make synths, not war" ... so right.
