[sdiy] Condenser/Old pre-amp

Hi there, sorry as this does note relate to synths.

I need to find out a good way to operate a condenser mic with this old Rola 
pre amp which sounds lovely but doesn't have phantom. I have tried a y-lead, 
balanced, all pin 2 hot, to take phantom power from the mackie but this 
doesn't seem to work. Would I only need to connect pins 1 + 3 on the mixer, 
pin 1 being where the +48v comes from. Any suggestions?
