Studio Distortion? Ha-ha (Nelson's voice :)...
Maybe tube based devices, like paia's tubehead? or copying
some marshall or so tube stages...
Much praised proco rat was made in rack version, it just had
two same channels, very expensive with no reason...
There was (I think) Ibanez distortion II, with proper controls
and opamps, dual supply, resonance control (according to schem
not real, but you can add it to any dis pedal, very radical
results, look for noise swash at www.commonsound.com)
