[sdiy] One Big Power Supply OK?

Hi List,

My modular has severely outgrown my powersupply, and I really need to add
some more juice... I found a linear triple output supply from Mouser, and
I'd like peoples' opinion:

It supplies the following:
+5V at 6A
+15V at 1.5A
-15V at 1.5A

Is it a good idea to buy one BIG supply like this, or is it better to use
seperate smaller supplies? I was envisioning one smaller supply (500-800mA)
for my VCOs only (for tuning stability) and this second large supply to run
most everything else.

My modular has recently expanded into it's 6th frac-rac case, and I'd rather
not buy/build 6 seperate supplies if possible.

If I *do* decide on one large supply, I'll probably build it into a seperate
2U or 3U case with multiple 6-pin DIN connectors on the rear. I'd then
star-wire these to each frac-rac case. The cases will each have a
Blacet/MOTM style distribution board inside. Should these individual power
supply outputs be decoupled with 100 ohm resistors and some caps? My modules
generally have decoupling already, but would further decoupling in the main
power supply be helpful or harmful?

Finally, I use a dirty/clean ground system on my scratch-made boards, and I
was wondering: How should dirty/clean ground be tied together at the supply?
Can they be hooked directly together, or is some sort of isolation crutial
here?

Thanks in advance

Dave Magnuson
