[sdiy] 301 and 741, and the difference?

The main difference is that the LM301 has external compensation. If
you put a 30 pF cap accross pins 1 and 8, the LM301 will have basically
the same AC performance as the 741. I believe that the LM301 does have
better DC performance than the 741, but, I can't be sure. It has been a
long time since I used either device.

The LM301 also allows you to use much more exotic frequency
compensation techniques. You can use feed forward compensation and
actually get about 10V/us slew rate out of the thing with about 5MHz
unity gain cross over, or was that 10MHz.....although, I have generally
found that using such techniques causes just as many new problems as it
cures.
