[sdiy] a bit frustrated

i'm new.

sort off.. if you haven't heard me mentioning my modded dr110 ad
nauseam, you're missing out.. i mention ad nauseam well.

so i have put a few simple circuits together with some success, i've
studied some electronics books, but there's a lot i'm not getting. these
are really stupid questions.. i'm just a bit frustrated because i
invested in making some simple projects as gifts, my deadline is
approaching, and i'm crapped out on all fronts.

my question: right now, i'm trying to put together the asm-1 lfo, here:
http://www.it.kth.se/~e93_mda/synths/friends/stopp/asm1lfo.pdf
very similar to a mark pulver schematic from hyperreal..

HELP!!!!

okay.. the negative terminal attaches to ground.. where does positive
go? pin 4 on my TL082s? i've tried tapping it to the input, or parts
thereabout (which worked on another circuit) and i get zilch.

i've got my multimeter hooked up to the ground and an output. got
readings in one configuration, but only when i turned the potentiometer.
nothing that looks like lfo activity for sure. where would one apply
one's multimeter for excellent circuit testing?

now should i ground pin 8 of my TL082s (which is V-) i'm dead sure i
shouldn't, but at this point i don't know what i know anymore.

i've also seen using 'halves' of op amps mentioned.. can i use just one
TL082 for 'both' of them in this circuit?

i'm using a 9v battery for power.. this is the only load so far.. that
ought to do it right? my intention is to slap the lfo 2 oscs and an a/d
eg in a little box with some knobs and buttons for making bird noises.
maybe bend it with some photocells.. w/solar recharge :) tia. xoxos.
