[sdiy] Chroma Polaris diagnostic mode

Hi,

A friend of mine just bought a Chroma Polaris, and in the process of 
checking out the insides we decided to replace the battery inside it.  Well, 
apparently this erases the factory presets and leaves the instrument in some 
sort of diagnostic limbo.  Error clicks and honks come out when certain key 
sequences are pressed, but nothing I can figure out will make it play again.

Does anyone know how to fix this?  It seems really silly to put something in 
volatile memory that's necessary for the synth to work right...
