Dont think the oscillator will affect attack at all... the
oscillator is asyncronous... you can't tell where in the cycle the
oscillator will be whan you trigger.
The attack "sound" comes from Q1 and associated components. This is
the sound of the "pop" when the beater hits the head.
The volume of this is set by R5... and the tone by C1 and C2 play with
these.
How fast your trigger signal rises is also a factor in the attack time... if
your trigger is slow the attack will be poor also.
Maybe amplify or square up the trigger and you will improve the sound.
