[sdiy] velocity-sensitivity for footpedals ?

I have a one-octave organ pedal sitting here too, and thought I could
turn it into something useful.

I have never played bass pedal, does velocity sensitivity make sense at all?
This organ pedal has a common contact, this is activated when any of the
keys is pressed. This could be turned into a thing that senses how far
the pedal is pressed. Makes more sense than velocity? Or Aftertouch?
