Silicon Controlled Rectifier. It is a four layer device (three
junctions instead of two like a transistor). It has three leads, an
Anode, Cathode and gate. Once triggered, it will continue to conduct
until the current through the device falls below a certain level. And,
like a rectifier, current will only flow in one direction. You can
simulate an SCR by using two transistors. There are VCO circuits in
various places that use this type of transistor connected SCR to
discharge the integrating capacitor.
