OK I'll bite...

The TO-92 package with the thermal resistance from hell  ???

Quite unforgiving to a fault... I'd use the TO-220 package anytime...
unless
I could not stand the size.

ps. of course it is thermal protected... but that is a last ditch effort
to save its own
