I seem to remember the preset patterns on the mc303 were rather lame anyway. 
Even so I dont think they are such a bad idea, they help to speed the 
learning curve, and im sure they are a good selling point  from a salesmans 
point of view. After all isn't the mc 303 rolands biggest seller to date?

Anyway its not really about the gear you own, rather how well you use it 
that really counts??!
