You have to be *very* careful! My advice is:

1) Use ear-cleaning tools
2) disassemble the CD player carefully to avoid mechanical stress on optical
pickup
3) Don't use in the first attempt alcohol or something else, firstly use the
ear cleaner
as such, test and see. Alcohol normally contains a lot of other things, and
these things
may leave shiny traces on the lenses.

This procedure was tested in-field :)
