[sdiy] [OT] cdplayer noise

If it's short bursts, there's probably something wrong with the
reading/decoding of the data. Nothing much you can do about it, except for
cleaning the lens. Just clean it with an -ear-clean-sticky-thingy (what is
it called in English??) and some alcohol or something. You can actually see
if the lens is dirty. Looks a bit damped... You'll find out, it will work
better for a while, but you'll have to clean it from time to time.

Just don't be too rude on it. The optical pickup unit can be quite
fragile...

(Sorry re the OT, skip this msg if ot's offend)

My CD player has, on some CD's, noise. Short bursts, which get worse the
longer it is turned on. It is 2nd hand, the amp+speakers are new.

Some CD's are worse than others.

Why could it be doing this?

It is on top of the amp, with one speaker by them and the other 3m away.
