hey there, all this talk about pots and stuff i figured i'd add
in some new knowledge i just gleaned, it looks like the
resolution of 10-turn precision pots are around 10 bits. some of
the stuff i'm doing at work is with 12-bit video A/D converters,
and the bourns pots i'm using aren't quite as good as the
converter. i've been checking into digital pots, which come in a
range of resolutions, if you want to match the resolution of a
10-turn all you'd need would be a 10-bit encoder, or the other
way around, a 12-bit DAC has 4x better resolution than the best
pots you could get. now don't take me wrong, i'm definitley on
the analog side of the fence, but i thought it was pretty
interesting. what does that say about the resolution of standard
pots? l8r..Nick
