   We use OP496's (quads) here at work for ultra-high gain transducer 
amplifiers.  The only bad thing about these (and other rail-to-rail 
amplifiers) is that they don't like to deliver large amounts of current, 
and many don't have very good frequency responce.  Now if you're only 
talking about low-frequency and CV stuff, you might do okay, but don't 
expect great heaps out of them.
   As for current delivery, most will do a few milli-amps, but typically not 
near the rails.
