good question...
I would go for one crystal per board
for two reasons
1) Crystals arent that expensive, so why skimp?
2) you wont get 1Mhz all over the board.
Also to be honest if you slightly detune the oscs it wont sound digital,

doesnt sound digital, unless you want it to..
These are two Phase-accumulator-oscs (of my own design) running from the
same clock.
with a resolution of about .015hz (ok I went a bit nuts with the resolution)
per bit..
24bit control word..
the detune control works on the middle (ish) 8bits and gives me plenty of
range for detune
