i did this to one of my sk1's a long time ago. i used a CD4066 and
physically mounted the chip very close to the pcb contacts. also be sure to
include a pull-down resistor (10k to ground) on the gate in pin on the 4066.
you can obviously switch some of the other functions this way also. good
