[sdiy] Best Seq PIC

Hi everyone...

If one would get into programming a PIC sequencer
which PIC would be the best one for the job?
I have thought about the 16C74A which seems to
the best one for the job. Allthough it would'nt
hurt with a little more I/O's but thats sadly 
impossible.
By the way handling a TB-303 like Matrix keyboard
is best done how? the way that the original 303 uses
demands after all 16 I/O's with the leds and everything.
Maybe 2 74C922's?

Anyway if you have any links on programing this type of
applications on a PIC it is very welcome. I am still
deciding how to manage teh tempo. Kind of want the
old 24ppq signal to get the same timing. But the bpm
will be created inside the PIC so suggetsions on how to 
handle tempo and sync is very welcome to.
