Just to add some raw figures, the IEEE1394 bus supports data transfer up to
400 MB/s
In the mode used for real-time data transmission, up to 80% of the total
bandwidth is available.

Current mLan chipsets can't use the full potential of the bus yet, but when
they do later this year, that's nearly 200 channels of full bandwidth audio,
or well over 10,000 times the bandwidth of a single serial midi connection.
mLan bandwidth is divided between audio of midi as required.

I wonder who'll be first to build a mLan to CV convertor...
