[sdiy] testing pots for linear or log??

Crank the pot to mid position, and see if the resistance 
from wiper to each side is equal. If so, it's linear. If the 
 side in the anti-clockwide direction is less, it is log. If 
it is more, anti-log. Occasionally you will find weirdo 
pots. I have a few that have a three stage taper, almost 
hyperbolic.
