Hi Drew
The XBase 09 uses a plain 909 style Bassdrum. As far as I remember the only real
(but nevertheless minor) difference is the oscillator: The 909 uses a triangle
which is drawn to a sine, the Xbase uses a sine which can be clippped.
You may ask the developper (and owner), Juergen Michaelis. I talked at the
Frankfurt Music Fair to him (and once visited their production site in an old
Berlin backyard). He plans some single Sound generators at all. Maybe this is
worth for waiting. You may contact him over info at jomox.de or
juergen.michaelis at jomox.de.
btw: The hell of a synth and one of the best things I heard in the recent five
years is the "sunsyn".
Eight voice synth,
two vcos,
two wavetable oscillators. The wavetables are readout by the ramp of a sawtooth,
this can be the VCOs, whcih can be crossmodulated to hell,
the VCF is a four stage OTA filter, each stage switchable between High and
Lowpass, each stage with a CV-offset, you can use the 12dB Audioout, but the
24dB resonance...
fast analogue ADSR (0,8ms slewrate)
easy to use modulation matrix. Every input of this matrix can sum four signals!
completely programmable,...
God, this peace sounds real great! This is what you always thought a Matrix 12
should sound like but never did.
