The xbase is much more 909 IMO.
It's a vco based sound rather than a resonant twin-t sound.
This is the main source of difference between the 808 and 909.

The 808 and 909 bass drums are totally different.
While you might get one to sound like the other at certain settings, their
overall sets of sounds cover different areas.

There's only a few quids/bucks worth of components in them.
It is your *duty* to clone them ;-)

The 909 bass only needs a couple of extra pots and a caps added to give
super long decay, enhanced 'tune' thump, wide range vco tuning and
distortion.
