AFAIK, the jomox is #not# a true 909, but rather a hybrid element of a 909
and 808. Lets all be honest, the 909 kick unmodded is pretty boring
actually.. It *really* needs to be allowed to have more gain to distort,
more decay, a few more knobs, 808-like tuning, etc etc to be really hairy
sounding.. A 909 kick all by itself is IMHO not as good as an 808, and a
properly modded 808 circuit *can* sound like a 909 if modded properly.
Heck, the tr-606 I have started with the Waterstone mods, then I added a bit
more circuitry and it started sounding nearly exactly like a 909. But, mind
you, I pretty much ditched most of the 606 original kik design. ;)
