[sdiy] frequency shifter

May seem a little off topic, but on the other hand this list is the best place
to ask...

Would someone please describe how to patch a frequency shifter modularly. I
sometimes use one (the Moog/ Bode model) and can't buy one for myself but I
suspect it can be patched from existing discrete modules; four ringmodulators
and a number of quadrature oscillators says my vague knowledge... different
approaches welcome (regarding the various ways to achieve (or to not achieve)
low frequency/ through zero shifting).
