I do recall a while back a company in the UK that offered a waveform
expansion kit for the SY77 - basically a card that plugged into the ROM
sockets and gave you extra banks of waveforms to play with.  I'll dig
around at home to see if I can offer any additional info.

Otherwise, great synth!  I have the SY77 - my very first *blush*
manufactured synth!!

I also believe the samples are 16-bit PCM encoded.
