While we're on the subject of batteries, I noticed that the editor's column 
in this months Poptronics mentioned that some company that develops lithium 
batteries had bought all the remaining patents for the lithium ion 
technology, and is going to _license_ the technology...meaning that they 
would be charging a licensing fee to anybody who marketed a device using such 
a battery. This brings a number of comments to mind, but most of them aren't 
printable here...
