Some of you probably read that article from a couple
of months ago in Wired, about labs etc. networking
dozens (and even hundreds) of old PC motherboards
under Linux to get the equivalent number crunching
power as a Cray supercalculator of the early 90's
(but much cheaper).

I was wondering (yes, I'm wondering a lot in my
old days) : what kind of application for such a
gear configuration associated to analog gear ?

What about fractals and/or genetic algorithms
running in realtime and driving a huge modular ?
Or realtime simulation of natural / biologic / whatever
process (weather forecast, earthquake, cellular division...)
to be translated into realtime algorithmic composition...
