discrete: no function. why? measure all nodes, ah pnp instead npn
          fixed, 2hours elapsed time

integrated: no function. why? heck, can't measure anything, e-beam to noisy,
            after severall days of ion milling, the 101th hyphothesis
            seems to hold true. Design change, fab run.
            samples, ok, better but not good,
            the next error that was hidden by the previous.
            elapsed time: 8 weeks
            

Discrete diy soldering and integration of monolithic circuits have
nothing in common. Design engineers for monolithic chips spend
*a lot* of time to think about "possible" errors in advance.
You wouldn't do that in discrete circuits, because it's so easy
to simply solder it and measure afterwards.

:::Try fixing a circuit with a chip with no datasheets, no idea of what it can 
do....
:::It's bad enough with some commercial circuits, you certainly don't want to 
linearly enhance the chance of total failure
:::regarding to the number of custom chips.
:::Much a better idea to stick to discrete and available parts.
:::Matching would probably be worse because you need very good engineering 
skills to do that on a dye.
