[sdiy] pitch quantizing

Hi folks,

I'd like to build a "simple" pitch quantizer.  I've done some poking
around on the web, but everything that I've found has involved an ADC, a
microprocessor, and a DAC.  I'd rather not get into microprocessors (I
do computer programming all day at work; the *last* thing I want to do
in my off-hours is debug code <g>).  I've seen oblique references to
analog circuitry to do pitch quantization (I'm talking about traditional
chromatic scales), but been unable to find a detailed description, or
circuits.  Any tips?
