Hi all,
Again, this a post on behalf of a friend.
My friend has a 2600 which has been gathering dust, and which he would like to control via MIDI. I have been looking at a number of the current DIY options (MIDIDac, EFM etc.), and even some of the "high-end" single voice solutions (Kenton Pro-Solo), and I am somewhat confused by the whole gate/trigger input issue.
I have done an on-line search to determine whether or not a 2600 can be successfully controlled (ie. without sacrificing functionality) by a MIDI to CV converter that does not have a dedicated trigger output (the Pro-Solo does not appear to allow you to dedicate the aux out to trigger, as do the higher-end Kenton's).
Any experiences out there in accomplishing this? How would a MIDIDac, or similar unit with re-trigger via taking the gate low on each new attack, function in this situation?
Thanks,
Gavin Muir
